  • Ireland named to KPA board of directors

    Linda Ireland, editor of The LaRue County Herald News, was named to the Kentucky Press Association board of directors last month.
    She attended her first meeting Jan. 23-24 at the KPA convention in Lexington.
    Scott Schurz Jr., president and publisher of Advocate Communications, Inc., Danville, was installed as KPA president.
     

  • Debbie Matteson chosen as Employee of the Month

    Debbie Matteson has been selected as the January Employee of the Month for Nationwide Uniform.
    She has been employed with Nationwide since September 1987 and is under the supervision of Debra Coursey in the trouser department.
    She will receive an award for her dedication and service.

  • Community Foundation shares story

    Thanks to all our members who joined us for the chamber luncheon this week. We had a great turnout.

    Al Rider, president and CEO of the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, shared with our group how they can offer people a way to help strengthen their local community by working with donors who want to make a lasting impact through giving. The opportunity is within our grasp for LaRue County.

  • Leadership class

    The Leadership LaRue participants visited the LaRue County Courthouse Jan. 16 for  Local Government Day. The class is sponsored by the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce.   • Hawkins honored as employee of the year

    Venita Hawkins was selected as Employee of the Year for 2013 by Nationwide Uniform.

    She has been employed with Nationwide since Aug. 4, 1976. She is employed in the trouser department.

    She received a special award for her dedication and service at the annual Christmas program on Dec. 23.

  • Creek Front: Many thanks to area businesses

    A tremendous thank you goes out to the businesses who participated in Christmas at Creekfront. They battled the ever-changing weather elements while putting up and taking down their displays.

    Yong Jones has been selected as the December Employee of the Month for Nationwide Uniform.

    She has been employed with Nationwide since April 2007 and is under the supervision of Tiffany Franklin in the jacket department.

    She will receive an award for her dedication and service.

  • Dr. Wright elected chair of KMA Board of Trustees

    R. Brent Wright, M.D., formerly of LaRue County, was elected chair of the Kentucky Medical Association’s Board of Trustees during the KMA annual meeting in September.  

  • Forns recertified as funeral service practitioner

    Margaret “Polly” Forns, a funeral director and manager of Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, has qualified for recertification of the designation of certified funeral service practitioner by the Academy of Professional Funeral service Practice.
