 The A & B Healthcare float was presented the Mayor’s Award for the Lincoln Days Parade. Maverick Houk and his Super Heroes and Leadership float was the favorite of Hodgenville Mayor Terry Cruse.

 You may have driven past signs for Bulk Foods and More on KY 210 (Old E’town Road) and Walter Reed Road and thought a farmer was selling an overabundance of crops.

 Unemployment rates fell in 98 Kentucky counties between August 2011 and August 2012, while 20 county rates increased and two stayed the same, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. 

LaRue County’s unemployment rate was 7.3 percent in August compared to 8.2 percent in July. It was 7.9 percent a year ago.

Of a 6,843 civilian workforce, 6,346 people were employed.

Oldham County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 6.5 percent.

 Each summer, The Lincoln Trail Workforce Investment Board funds a Summer Youth Program. This past summer, 55 youth in the area took advantage of this program, many of whom had no prior experience.

Beginning June 4, these youth were placed into jobs of their interest or chosen career paths. The youth were matched with 32 different employers and worked in accounting, legal, maintenance, child care, medical, information technology, banking and manufacturing.
