  • Castorena, Grimes honored by Nationwide Uniform

    Juan Castorena has been selected as the July Employee of the Month for Nationwide Uniform.

    He has been employed with Nationwide since August 1999 and is under the supervision of Kim Beard in the trouser department.

    Vicky Grimes has been selected as the August Employee of the Month.

    She has been employed with Nationwide since August 2011 and is under the supervision of Nellie Gaskin in the trouser department.

    They will receive an award for dedication and service to Nationwide.

  • Bradley attends Graduate School of Banking

    Deena Bradley, senior vice president of Magnolia Bank, is among 157 bankers who took part in the 64th annual Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

    The two-week session ended June 7 and included courses in all aspects of banking and economics. The school is sponsored by 15 southern state bankers associations in cooperation with the Division of Continuing Education at LSU. It requires attendance on campus for three years with extensive bank study assignments between sessions.

  • Cox, Servpro honored for outstanding revenue performance

    DeWayne Cox, owner of Servpro of Hardin/LaRue Counties, was honored with the Director’s Silver award for outstanding revenue performance during Servpro’s 44th annual convention June 17-21, at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel and the Anaheim Convention Center in California. 

    The convention provides a networking and educational forum for more than 1,600 franchise owners. The company provides disaster cleanup, restoration and remediation services.

  • Lincoln National expands into Nelson County

    Lincoln National Bank celebrated the grand opening of their newest location in Bardstown on Friday, July 26. A large number of LaRue and Nelson county customers, board of directors, employees and well-wishers, gathered to take part in the dedication.

    The 5,304 square foot Bardstown branch is located at 500 Lincoln Way, which boasts the architectural design complimenting the surrounding Historic Bardstown landscape with its tall ceilings and grandeur décor’.

  • Jobless rate falls in county

    Unemployment rates decreased in 32 Kentucky counties between May 2012 and May 2013, while 78 county rates rose and 10 stayed the same, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. 

    LaRue County’s rate fell from 7.7 percent in May 2012 to 7.5 percent in May 2013. Of a 6,915 civilian labor force, 6,395 people were employed.

  • South Central Rural plans to expand

    The largest telephone cooperative in Kentucky wants to expand its offerings into Green County with fiber optic network communications that could eventually encompass the entire county.

    South Central Rural Telephone Company, which already serves a portion of southwestern Green County is studying the feasibility of extending its network through Greensburg to join up with territory it already serves in Mount Sherman.
