As a crowd looked over the edge of a trench, a backhoe pushed a water pipe under Ky. 222 into the Glendale Industrial Site.
The Thursday afternoon ceremony marked the arrival of a key piece of infrastructure for the 1,551-acre tract, which officials hope one day will be home to a large facility with thousands of workers.
Hardin County Water District No. 2 began construction of the more than five miles of pipes in March 2009.

Roy Abell of Buffalo has joined the staff of Rust-Wright Funeral Home in Hodgenville.  He will serve as director’s assistant to Funeral Director Ron Rust.
He recently retired from Core-Mark of Leitchfield after 12 years. He worked also for International Harvester in Louisville for more than 20 years.
Abell has been married to the former Brenda Helvey for 46 years. They have three children, Rhonda Whitlock of Hodgenville; Ruthie Abell of Oregon; and Annie Bell of Glendale; and two grandchildren.

 Cracker Barrel is sitting down at the table once again in Bardstown to discuss a possible restaurant on Old Filiatreau Lane.

The national restaurant chain has submitted a set of site plans for the eatery with the Bardstown Development Review Board. It previously considered building a restaurant in the same location in September 2007.

A Hodgenville businessman is expanding his holdings by building a specialty grocery store in Hardin County.

Vernon Detweiller, owner of Bent N Dent in Hodgenville and a discount grocery in southern Wisconsin, and his brother, Perry Detweiller, are developing a 6.5-acre site on U.S. 31-W, south of Lincoln Parkway.

Vernon Detweiller's new store will be "D&D Grocery." It will be about 10,800-square-feet with more than half the floor space devoted to retail sales. It will open in the first quarter of 2011.
