    Sarah Latham, a veterinary technician at the LaRue County Animal Clinic, has joined the staff at Brown Mackie College in Louisville. She has accepted a position as veterinary technician instructor.

  • Rissel named to advisory board

    William J. Rissel, president and chief executive officer of Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, was recently appointed to a two-year term on the newly formed Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. The 12-member council will hold its inaugural meeting March 1-2 to advise Eighth District Federal Reserve Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. James Bullard on local credit, banking and economic conditions.

    Dr. Asim Piracha, a partner with John-Kenyon American Eye Institute has been named to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.

    The four-year appointment was made by Gov. Steve Beshear.

  • Buffalo School Apartments now open for tours

    Buffalo School Apartments will hold an open house Feb. 10 and grand opening Feb. 23.
    LaRue County Director of Economic Development Bob Sims called the renovation of the elementary school into apartments “one of the best projects I have ever worked on.
    The building, located on School Loop in Buffalo, has been vacant since the summer of 2007. It merged with Magnolia Elementary to form Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.

  • Operation Roundup funds community agencies

    Nolin RECC members have voluntarily contributed thousands of dollars in a special account to help their community. These dollars began as small change through the Operation Round-Up program at Nolin. Since implementing ORU in June 2006, over $50,000 has been donated to projects/agencies in our communities.

  • Akin receives funeral director's license

    Coletta Greenwell Akin has received her Kentucky Funeral Directors License.

    Akin took her State Board Examination on Dec. 6 and received her results from the Kentucky State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors on Dec. 13.

    She is a 1979 Graduate of Nelson County High School and a 1985 graduate of the University of Louisville, with a degree in arts and sciences. Most recently she has successfully passed the Kentucky State Boards that allows her to serve as a licensed funeral director in Kentucky.
