  • Youth job fair set for April 5

    Lincoln Trail Career Centers and Youth Services Centers will host a youth job fair 4-6 p.m. April 5 at John Hardin High School Commons, 384 W.A. Jenkins Road. Ages 16 to 21 are invited to attend. Several employers are participating, including UPS, The Reserves Network, E-town Electronics, United Way-Americorps Vista, Nielsen Media, Dollar General and Arby's.

  • LGE assists storm victims through Red Cross donation

    The LG&E and KU Foundation Inc. has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to support ongoing tornado-relief efforts in Kentucky.

  • Two roadside markets certified by Kentucky Farm Bureau

     LaRue County is home to two of the 106 markets accepted into the 2012 Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market Program. They are Hinton’s Orchard and Farm Market and Lee’s Garden Center.

    In joining the Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market Program, these markets have committed to offering quality products and service to their customers. Their acceptance by Farm Bureau tells customers that they meet the highest standards of quality, freshness, and marketing appeal.

  • Jobless rate down in LaRue for Dec. 2011

     Unemployment rates fell in 114 Kentucky counties between January 2011 and January 2012, including LaRue County.

    Five county rates increased and one stayed the same, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. 

  • Branscum Construction honored for Sunrise design

     Branscum Construction Company was presented the 2011 “Build Kentucky” Award by the Associated General Contractors of Kentucky at an awards banquet on Feb. 24. The Russell Springs-based company was honored for the design and construction of the new Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.

  • Job fair caters to veterans

     Job seekers who are transitioning personnel, veterans, members of the National Guard, reservists and their dependents will have an opportunity to meet nearly 45 employers at a March 29 job fair. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 113 in Elizabethtown.

    The free event is sponsored by the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training in conjunction with the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veteran.

  • Eddie Cruse named Employee of the Month for Nationwide

    Eddie Cruse has been selected as the March Employee of the Month for Nationwide Uniform.

    Cruse has been employed with Nationwide since October 1983 and is under the supervision of B.J. Gaskin in the maintenance department.

    He will receive a special award for his dedication and service.
