• Howell retires from Sunrise

    Betty K. Howell, longtime accountant at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, retired Jan. 30, 2015, after more than 30 years of service.

    Howell’s job title changed to business office manager after Signature Healthcare took over management of the facility.

    She is active at Saint James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, where she serves on the bereavement and social committee. She also volunteers for Relay for Life and the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk.

    Howell and her husband, Fred, live in Elizabethtown. She has a son, Matt.

  • Carolyn England honored by Nationwide

    Carolyn England has been selected as the January Employee of the Month for Nationwide Uniform.

    She has been employed with Nationwide since August 2014 and is under the supervision of Charie Glenn in the trouser department.

    She will receive a special award for her dedication and service.

  • Carol Rae Smith named Employee of the Year

    Carol Rae Smith was selected as Employee of the Year for 2014 by Nationwide Uniform.

    She has been employed with Nationwide since Sept. 23, 1969. She works in the trouser department.

    She received an award for her dedication and service at the company’s annual Christmas program on Dec. 23, 2014.

  • Long returns as CUB’s market president

    Jim Long is returning to Citizens Union Bank in Elizabethtown as market president for CUB’s central Kentucky market. He will lead commercial, business banking and consumer lending efforts, according to a news release from CUB’s board of directors in Shelbyville.

    Long will continue to serve as senior Vice President of Special Assets for the Bank as well.

    A panel of pipeline industry experts fielded questions Thursday about the safety and environmental impact of a plan to repurpose a pipeline in Boyle County to carry natural gas liquids (NGLs) and had the answer to some questions, didn't know the answer to others and provided fodder for some newly emerging concerns.
