Mark Howell, a member on the LaRue County Conservation District Board of Supervisors, has been named agricultural coordinator for the Bacon Creek water project.
Howell, a long-time farmer, will be working closely with Kentucky Waterways Alliance to get farmers interested in best management practices to improve water quality in Bacon Creek.
The project will last about three years and will address both agricultural and human sources of pollution in the watershed.

The LaRue County Fair is an excellent opportunity for youth to showcase their talents. Numerous 4-H classes are offered. Categories include arts and crafts, photography, foods, houseplants, vegetables, crops, electric, woodworking, entomology, honey, forestry, geology, sewing, knitting, crocheting, breads, dairy foods, food preservation and home environment.  
A complete list of 4-H classes is included in the fair catalog. Stop by the Extension Office if you need a copy of the catalog or if you have questions about entry requirements.  

Aug. 1 – Last day to file nomination forms for county committee. Forms are available at the Hardin/LaRue FSA office or www.fsa.usda.gov.
Nov. 4 – Ballots mailed to eligible voters
Dec. 5 – Last day to return voted ballots to FSA office
Jan. 2 – Elected committee members and alternates take office

The Hardin/LaRue FSA office is located on Lincoln Parkway.
 

Dog Club meets for practice
The 4-H Dog Club will meet 10-11:30 a.m. July 16 at the Extension Office. Bring your dog on a leash. This is practice before the show to be held the following Saturday.
 
Shooting Sports
The LaRue County 4-H Shooting Sports Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 21 at the New Haven Gun Club.
