Livestock producers who incur eligible livestock death losses due to the recent extreme temperatures and other adverse weather events may be eligible for the USDA Farm Service Agency’s Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP). LIP provides assistance to livestock owners and contract growers who experience livestock death losses in excess of normal mortality due to natural disasters.

4-H Poultry Club meets
The 4-H Poultry Club will meet on 3:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the LaRue County Extension Office.

State Fair exhibits
4-H exhibits advancing to the Kentucky State Fair must be brought to the Extension Office by 8:30 a.m. Aug. 15.  Items and ribbons will be returned to the Extension Office from the State Fair on Aug. 29.
 
Shooting Sports Club meets
The 4-H Shooting Sports Club will hold its monthly meeting practice at 6:30 p.m. at the New Haven Gun Club on Thursday, August 18th.

Pork Producers to meet
The LaRue County Pork Producers will meet on 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at the LaRue County Extension Office.

Southern States holds membership meeting
Southern States Hardin Cooperative, Inc. will hold their annual membership meeting Aug. 23 at 310 West Water Street, Hodgenville. Membership day activities start at 11 a.m. with the business meeting at noon.  

ACRE deadline extended
The 2010 Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) production certification deadline has been extended to Sept. 1.
 

The dates and guidelines for the 2011 Fort Knox deer hunting seasons have been released to the general public with significant changes sure to benefit civilian hunters.
Archery hunters interested in hunting at Fort Knox can apply Aug.1-15 while gun and youth hunters can apply Aug. 15-31. Application forms may be obtained at the Hunt Control Office or downloaded from www.knox.army.mil/fw/downloads.asp. All deer harvested on post are bonus animals and supplement the Kentucky bag limit.
