FSA ballots mailed
The deadline for eligible voters to return ballots to their local FSA offices is Dec. 5. The FSA county committee allows producers to make decisions concerning the local administration of federal farm programs. Eligible voters who do not receive a ballot can obtain ballots at their local USDA Service Center or call 765-2702.

Fall soil sampling allows farmers and gardeners time to utilize UK research-based fertility recommendations before spring planting. With the recent rain, actually taking the samples should be easier now, too.
The turn-around time for samples from the Extension Office to the University of Kentucky Soil Testing Lab is much faster in the fall, usually within a week, because fewer people are submitting samples this time of year.  
Spring turnaround time can approach three weeks during the busiest times.

Thirty-nine LaRue County FFA members attended the North American Championship Rodeo Nov. 11 at Freedom Hall in Louisville. Members could attain a ticket by selling 15 or more boxes of fruit for the annual fundraiser.
The rodeo was held as part of the North American International Livestock Exposition. Members visited the Giant Country Store and watched events such as the Draft Horse show.
The rodeo was the invitational finals for the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association. Events included calf roping, steer wrestling and bull riding.

4-H Council
The LaRue County 4-H Council will meet 6:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Extension Office. The meeting is open to the public. Anyone wishing to serve on the council should contact 4-H Agent Misty Wilmoth at 358-3401 or mwilmoth@uky.edu. The council oversees the county-wide 4-H program as far as planning, evaluating and funding.
