    Breast Cancer Awareness Truck and Tractor Pull
    The Burger King Breast Cancer Awareness Truck and Tractor Pull will be 7 p.m. Oct. 11 and 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. Events for children begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 12. To sign up, call Tim Hornback at 270-300-8636.

    No-till drills
    The LaRue County Conservation District has three no-till drills available for rent. For more information, call 270-358-3132. The office is located in the LaRue County Farm Bureau Building, 606 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville.

  • Boyd and Hayse elected to Southern States board

    David Boyd of Hodgenville and Paul Hayse of Rineyville were elected to the local board at the Southern States annual membership meeting of the Hardin Co-op.

    The meeting was held Sept. 9 in Hodgenville with more than 70 stockholder-members and their families attending.

    Steve Berry of Hodgenville was elected chairman/president of the board of directors. Hayse was named vice chairman.

    Don Thomas, district manager, presented a report on major developments at the co-op.

  • Conner selected as delegate for American Angus Association

    Kenley E. Conner of Hodgenville has been elected as a delegate to the 130th Annual American Angus Association Convention of Delegates, Nov. 18 in Louisville.

       The appearance of yellowjackets is one sure sign fall is on its way. Actually these fairly small unpredictable, stinging pests have been around this summer feeding on other insects. Most of us simply haven’t noticed them.

    Beef Master Marketer
    The first session of the three county Master Marketer program will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Hardin County Extension office. Additional sessions will be Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, 17 and 24.  A wide range of topics that affect livestock marketing concepts will be covered in the five sessions. A $75 registration per person will cover course materials, meals and out-of-state speaker expense. Contact the LaRue Extension office at 270-358-3401 to register.
