    LaRue County has had too many tragic accidents recently involving various vehicles and equipment.

    With the fall harvest underway, farmers are encouraged to be extra careful and prevent accidents and further tragedies from happening.

    Consider the following safety tips.

  • 4-H Calendar -September 11, 2013

    Poultry Club
    The 4-H Poultry Club will meet at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Extension office. New members are welcome to attend.

    Arts & Crafts Explorers
    The 4-H Arts & Crafts Explorers Club will meet 3:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Extension office. New members are welcome to attend. For more information, call the Extension office at 270-358-3401.

    Tractor pull at LaRue County Fairgrounds
    A tractor pull will be held 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the LaRue County Fairgrounds, 375 S. Greensburg St., Hodgenville.

    Pork Producers meet
    The LaRue County Pork Association will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the LaRue County Extension office in Hodgenville. All interested individuals are invited to attend.

  • Tractor pull at LaRue County Fairgrounds

    Organizers are crossing their fingers, hoping Saturday night’s tractor pull isn’t canceled once again.

    The LaRue County Fair’s tractor pull was canceled in June due to heavy storms. It will be held 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the LaRue County Fairgrounds, 375 S. Greensburg St., Hodgenville.

    Sign-in is 4 p.m.; gate fee is $5 per person with children age 6 and under, free.

    There are 12 classes for farm stock antique, open antique, non turbo, altered farm and King of the Hill.

    Trophies will be presented.

  • Heath family seeks to save lives one ‘pull’ at a time

    With a long history of cancer, Connie Heath and her family are working to eradicate the illness for others.

    In an effort to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Burger King Breast Cancer Awareness Truck and Tractor Pull is returning to Hardin County this fall.

    The pull at the Hardin County Fairgrounds begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 and 6 p.m. Oct. 12, with events for children beginning at 2 p.m. Oct. 12. Last year’s pull raised more than $14,000 for the foundation.

  • Ag Market Day

    About 200 people attended Ag Market Day last week at the LaRue County Extension office. Ten vendors set up at the farmers market, offering locally produced vegetables, plants, eggs, preserves and honey and a portable chicken coop.

    Cloverbuds meet
    The 4-H Cloverbuds will meet 3:30-4:45 p.m. Sept. 4 at the LaRue County Extension Office. The Cloverbud program is open to youth ages 5 to 8 years old or kindergarten through third grades. New members are welcome to attend. For more information, call 270-358-3401.
