    PESTICIDE CONTAINER RECYCLING

  • Mosquito Control

Controlling mosquitos is challenging to say the least. You may even think you are fighting a never-ending battle. With mosquito-borne diseases like the Zika and West Nile Virus becoming more prevalent, it’s even more important to know how to take control of these pests around your home environment. Learning to do a few simple things could help protect you from more than the itchiness of a mosquito bite.

For the summer, he will be working with Misty Wilmoth, the County 4-H Agent, and with the 4-H program. You might have already seen him working with others in the office, like kicking off the Farmer’s Market May 16 at the Ag Market Day. He will be helping in all Extension programs, not just 4-H.

  • Needle cast causing skimpy spruce trees

By far, the number one call I’ve gotten here at the LaRue County Extension Office over the last 2-3 months has been homeowners concerned about their Spruce trees. A tree is a long term investment, and when you plant a tree, you watch it grow over the years and develop into something beautiful that provides you with a windbreak, shade, etc. It’s very disheartening when a tree that you planted 20 years ago, that has become a focal point in the landscape, turns into an eyesore practically overnight.
