    Wanda Webb Muncy, 63, of Upton passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    She worked for Hardin County Board of Education as a bus driver and a truck driver.

    She was proceded in death by her parents, Luther and Mildred Morris Webb, one son, Barney Fields; and one brother Cleston Webb.

    Survivors include her husband, Thomas Muncy; daughter, Belinda (Michael) Curtis of Upton; and grandson, Matthew Bunch.

  • Mable E. Hill Waters, 100

    Mable E. Hill Waters, 100, of Franklin Crossroads died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

    She was a native of Hardin County and a member of Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church for 83 years. She owned and operated Hills Hardware and Grocery at Franklin Crossroads for 46 years. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet and quilt.

    Barbara Ann Hicks Bray, 70, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away July 21, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Bray; her parents, Walter Harrison and Eva Jane Adams Hicks; and several brothers and sisters.

    She is survived by three daughters, Jeannie (Jim) Logan and Sandy McCarol, all of Elizabethtown, and Laura Ann (Rick) Robinson of Hodgenville; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.

    Martha Daugherty Hubbard Pettrey, 96, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

    She was a member of Hodgenville Christian Church and was a retired bookkeeper.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Pettrey; her parents, William K. and Martha Nichols Hubbard; two sisters, Frances and Laura Jean; and six brothers, Malcolm, Marion, Jody, Jasper, Robert and Kelly.

    Dorothy Alleyne Hicks Porter, 88, of New Hope died Monday, July 20, 2009, at her residence.

    She was born in Nelson County, a homemaker and a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in New Hope.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Porter; one grandson; her parents, Leonard and Anna Belle Seward Hicks; three sisters, Norma Colvin, Inez Brown and Nancy Brennun; and four brothers, Fred Hicks, Jesse Hicks, Howard Hicks and Ernie Hicks.

    Carolyn Smith Jaggers, 83, of Sonora passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, at her residence.

    She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Sonora Christian Church.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lane Jaggers; her parents, Ed T. and Mary Jane Bastin Smith; and her sisters and brother.

    Kenneth Ray Handley, 68, of Bardstown died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

    He was a native of Hodgenville, a former employee for the City of Bardstown and Rose Construction Co. and was of the Baptist faith.

  • Mary Monin Summers Walker, 86

    Mary Monin Summers Walker, 86, of Woodstock and Crystal Lake, Ill., passed away June 15, 2009, at Manor Care Lely Palms in Naples, Fla.

    Born in Tonieville in LaRue County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lucille Monin Summers. She graduated from Glendale High School and later relocated to Chicago before settling in Crystal Lake.

    She was preceded in death by Emil, her husband of 41 years; her brother, Robert; and her sister, Laverne.

  • Billie Joyce Culver Thornsberry, 67

    Billie Joyce Culver Thornsberry, 67, of New Haven died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

    She was a homemaker, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in  Culvertown and a retired from General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Russell Thornsberry Jr.; her parents, William Leon and Eleanora Bryan Culver; and two sisters, Beverly Rogers and Faye Rogers.

  • Mike Hardin Jr., 30

    Mike Hardin Jr., 30, of Taylorsville, died July 13, 2009, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville.

    A native of Jefferson County, he died after a long illness.

    He is survived by his mother, Brenda Norton of Taylorsville; two sisters, Crystal Hardin and Amanda Hardin, both of Lebanon; a brother, Billy Hardin of Hodgenville; and grandparents, Ruth and Ernest Pearson of Willisburg.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Hardin Sr.

    The funeral was Thursday, July 16, at Greenwell-Jenkins-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Burial was in Valley Cemetery.
