Wild election in LaRue

With all the other races decided by large margins in LaRue County, the race for the democrat candidate for state Senate District 5 came down to a difference of 103 votes.

Democrat Ricky Alvey narrowly beat Democrat Leslie Stith 878 (53.12%) to 775 (46.88%) votes. However, Stith was the overall winner in the district with 5,470 (52.29%) to 4,990 (47.71%) votes. In the 2016 General Election in November, Stith will face Republican Steve Meredith, who was unopposed in the Primary Election.
