It is only fitting and proper that on this the 150th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War on Memorial Day we pay tribute to our Civil War Veterans. This conflict was the costliest conflict ever fought on American soil. Only one third of the deaths contributed to this war were from battle injuries. The majority of deaths were from disease and the unimaginably horrid living conditions of the soldiers. After 4 years of war, a large number of deaths, property destruction, loss of income and family relationships had been destroyed it was time for rebuilding.
