  • What causes hatred?

Hatred comes from following our own sinful desires (Galatians 5:19-23).

Is hating ever appropriate for God’s people? We see throughout Scripture that numerous situations elicited God’s hatred: idolatry among his people, injustice, oppression of the weak and poor, abuse of the marriage covenant and the dishonoring of his own name.

  • God gives many wonderful promises in his word.  There is God’s promise of love (John 3:16), forgiveness (1 John 1:9), salvation (Ephesians 2:8), everlasting life (John 10:28), answered prayer (1 John 5:14-15), and many, many others – about 7,000 promises. Many of those promises guide and encourage us. While the world and circumstances may change, God’s word never changes.
