  • Where can you get an excellent dinner, really entertaining music (Water’s Edge vocals) and a chance to outbid your neighbor for gift certificates from restaurants, decorative items, art and other goodies?

    It’s the Main Street Dinner on Saturday night at the Civic Center.

    If you want to check out the auction items, come early. Doors open at 5 p.m. for auction viewing; dinner is at 6 p.m. The concert is at 7:45. It’s a tight schedule, with three auction tables closing one at a time instead of at the end.

  • Some years ago, a book was written entitled, Games Christians Play. These were games played in the name of the Lord. The deadliest game of all was the game of playing God. In this game, Christians judge other people.

    Judging others is unchristian. James says we are all part of the same family (4:11) and should not rejoice when a brother stumbles. Satan and slander comes from the same word. We are most like Satan when we slander someone.

  • Registration is under way for the annual Becoming an Outdoors-Woman weekend workshop sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

    “If it’s time that you need, or you want to get out of the house, get a break from the kids for a weekend, learn something new that you can do with your family in the outdoors, and just enjoy the camaraderie of other women with the same interests, then the BOW workshop is squarely on target for you,” said BOW Program Volunteer Coordinator Beth Spivey-Minch.

  • Shooting Sports

    4-H Shooting Sports meeting and practice will be held 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the New Haven Gun Club. Practices are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month with the meeting held on the first Thursday before practice. The 4-H Shooting Sports Club is open to LaRue County youth ages 9 to 18.   • Researchers at the University of Kentucky are conducting a research study on vegetarians and vegans in Kentucky.

    You may participate in this study if you are age 18 or older; currently eat a vegetarian or vegan diet; and live in Kentucky.

    This study uses an anonymous online survey and takes about 20 minutes to complete.
