  • Jay Bill and Barbara Benningfield of Magnolia are happy to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their son Jeffery Lee Benningfield to Samantha Carolyn Lands, the daughter of David and Melynda Lands of Lebanon Junction.

  • Dinky Gowen will present his annual Kid's Day Christmas Spectacular on Sunday.

    The free event will be held at LaRue County Parks and Recreation and begins at 2 p.m. It offers two hours of magic, ventriloquism, comedy, face painting and generous door prizes.

    Elvis impersonator Joseph Williams is new to the show this year with a performance that is "sure to rock the house," Gowen said.

  • The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce will honor Rita Williams for the years of service given as the executive director of the chamber on Dec. 15. Each of the past presidents of the chamber who have worked with Williams will be present and speak about how she has moved the chamber forward.

    Williams asked for a leave of absence in September to pursue political office and has since tendered her resignation as executive director.

  • John and Joetta Dudgeon of Falls Of Rough announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter Jordan Ashley Dudgeon to Dave Ross Atwell of Greensburg.

    The prospective groom is the son of Denny and Debby Atwell.

    The wedding will be 5 p.m. Dec. 11 at Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church in Hodgenville.

    All family and friends are welcome. Invitations have been sent to out-of-town guests.

  • 44th annual Toy Drive

    Bobby Morrison and Santa’s Helpers are in need of new and used toys and batteries to be given away at Christmas.   • Extension Council to meet

    County Extension Council will meet noon Nov. 11 at the Extension Office. Future program ideas will be discussed. The meeting is open to the public. Afterwards the Extension District Board will meet.

    The LaRue County Extension District Board will meet Nov. 11 at the Extension Office following the noon County Extension Council meeting.

  • Some might say that Aaron Wheeler’s line of work is for the birds.

         After all, his involvement with the LaRue County High School Future Farmers of America led to a national award at the FFA convention in Indianapolis Oct. 20-23.

         Wheeler, 18, who lives at White City, was named national winner in the Wildlife Production and Management - Entrepreneurship/Placement Proficiency Award Program.

  • HES fifth graders

    The HES 5th grade 4-H Club will meet 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 in the cafeteria.

     

    Poultry Club to meet

    The LaRue County 4-H Poultry Club will meet 3:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Extension Office.  Anyone with an interest in poultry is encouraged to attend.  New members are welcome.

    A logo created by Terry Wise, a cartoonist and contractor for Hewlett Packard Enterprise Systems assigned to the 3rd Medical Recruiting Battalion, was selected as the theme logo for the Year of the Station Commander program, which recognizes work that station commanders, who are in charge of recruiters, do.
