  • Pottenger-Pottinger
    The Pottenger-Pottinger reunion is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 12 at Rolling Fork Christian Church, 2630 Lyons Station Road, New Haven. Bring enough food for your family plus a little extra.     Haycraft

  • A series of four sewing classes will be offered in October and November for beginning sewers. No sewing experience is necessary.  

    The class is open to 4-H age youth, ages 9 to 18. Participants will make a variety of items that can be used as holiday presents. The classes will be taught by Master Clothing Volunteer Judy Greenwell.

    Class size is limited.  

  • Saint Catherine Academy in New Haven will have Autumn Fest Oct. 19.

    A turkey dinner will be 4-7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $9 for adults; $5 for children; carryout is $9. Booths and games in the gym. Silent and live auction.

  • Several years ago a U.S. Navy submarine sank off the coast of Massachusetts in a terrible storm. Rescue teams tried to rescue the trapped crew. Communication with the trapped crew was with dots and dashes of the Morse Code. After much effort to rescue the men inside the vessel the last message received from them was, “Is there any hope?”

  • Revival at New Bethlehem Baptist
    New Bethlehem Baptist Church will hold revival 7 p.m. Oct. 10-12 with Bro. Dwayne Dobson and Rev. Odell Warren. Special singing each night. For more information, call 270-324-3179.

    Boys to Men orientation
    The men of Lane Lincoln C.M.E. Church, 200 Tanner Road, Hodgenville, are hosting a mentoring program, “Boys to Men” for boys ages 9-18 this fall. An orientation will be 10 a.m. Oct. 12 at the church. There will be monthly meetings.

  • Book signing at library
    Eddie Price will sign copies of his book Widder’s Landing 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at the LaRue County Public Library. His presentation is at 6 p.m. RSVP by calling the library at 270-358-3851.

    Bardstown Craft Beer Festival
    The Bardstown Craft Beer Festival will be 4-8 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Nelson County Farmer’s Market Pavilion on the corner of N. 2nd Street and East Flaget Avenue. Tickets are available at www.bardstowncraftbeerfest.com.

  • The Friends of the LaRue County Public Library hosted a political meet and greet Oct. 3.

    Several local officials and candidates attended the event at the library.

    Lynn Claycomb, president of the FLCPL, said she appreciated Representatives Michael Meredith and Terry Mills for participating in the meet and greet.

    Sarah Graff, assistant director of the library, said the event provided an opportunity for members of the community to meet their legislators and promoted the library as a place for community involvement.

  •  Dinky Gowen, a LaRue County illusionist, will perform at The Historic State Theater 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

    The Halloween-themed show will feature some of Houdini’s tricks (upside-down straightjacket escape and milk can water escape), performed live on stage.

    The “ghost” of Houdini will make an appearance.
