  • Two years ago, I was badly out of shape, not having exercised for years.

Two weeks ago, I accomplished a physical goal that I would have once told you was impossible for me.

How do we go from where we are to a goal that seems impossible? We go through one intentional step at a time.

Have you set goals for 2018? If you do, what goals would they be? Financial goals? Physical or health goals? Mental goals? Relational goals? Spiritual goals? Here are some helpful thoughts on how to achieve the impossible in 2018!

  • During Advent I want to share with you thoughts on some of “The Characters of the Christmas Story.”  We begin with Mary.  She is listed among some of the notable women of scripture and referred to as “Mary, the woman chosen by God.”  There are some 17 references to Mary in Matthew, Luke and John.

  • Thought for the week: You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice.

We had a great Thanksgiving Day with the West gang. There were 72 there this year. It was great seeing Uncle Quincy and Aunt Betty LaFollette and Harlis LaFollette. Want to say hi to Ralph and Mary Underwood in Anchorage, Alaska.

I got Christmas decorations on front porch. I can’t believe we will be going into December this weekend. Where did the year go? I am not ready for another year to begin.

  • The Homegoing celebration for Rex Thompson was held last Wednesday morning at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove. He’s the husband to Mildred Dorsey-Thompson.

Allen Dixon was admitted to the hospital Monday morning. Our deepest sympathy goes to the family of Mike Brown. Most of those my age went to high school with Mike. The family is in our prayers.

Everyone was happy to see Carolyn Cox, Carlos Cox, and Mary Jackson at church on Sunday morning at First Baptist. They had been out due to illness.

  • Ann “Snookie” Morrison and Santa’s Helpers are collecting Christmas donations for children of all ages this year and are in need of new and gently used toys as well as batteries.
