    The LaRue County Senior Citizens Center in Hodgenville has music beginning at 6:30 p.m. every Saturday. Musicians and singers are welcome.

  • County Quilt Club

    The LaRue County Quilt Club meets monthly at the LaRue County Extension Office in Hodgenville on the 2nd Wednesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring a project to work on or any recent quilt work to show and share. The next meeting is April 13 and the meetings are open to everyone.

    Goodtime Cruisers

    Goodtime Cruisers Cruise-in on the Square car show will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 16.

  • Skinny Mexican Chicken Casserole

     1 bag (10 oz) frozen whole grain brown rice

    1 bag (12 oz) frozen whole kernel sweet corn

    1 can (14 oz) black beans, drained, rinsed

    2 cups cubed cooked chicken breast

    2 cans (10 oz each) Old El Paso™ enchilada sauce

    1 cup chopped red bell pepper

    1/4 cup chopped green onions (4 medium)

    1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

    1 teaspoon chili powder

    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • If you’re interested in making sewing more than just a hobby, Cooperative Extension’s Master Clothing Volunteer program might be right for you. Recruitment for the Master Clothing Volunteer Class of 2016 is ongoing through the end of June.

    A master volunteer is an individual who goes above and beyond the traditional volunteer role. Master Clothing Volunteers have basic knowledge of sewing and garment construction skills. They are interested in receiving in-depth training in the subject and are dedicated to helping others learn their art.

    On April 1, Kyknitwits knitting group met at Back Home Restaurant for their second mini get together. There were eight who attended. We enjoyed lunch together and got in some knitting and crocheting. I loved seeing everyone.

  • Last Sunday, Reverend Aaron Moss and Lane Lincoln CME Church were the guests at Embry Chapel AME Church in Elizabethtown for their choir anniversary.

    Janet Handley is improving. She is now at the residence of her daughter, Leslie. Carrie Arnette will be having outpatient surgery this Wednesday in Louisville.

    Most of us have heard variants of these expressions and quotes from leaders, coaches, athletes, actors and parents. These quotes have a common thread, conviction, which is a firmly held belief that propels one forward.
