  • Hell-Heaven

Hell. Do you avoid thinking or talking about Hell? Why? Is it simply too unpleasant and distasteful? Or is it out of a hidden or repressed fear? Should we think and talk about Hell?

Does Hell really exist? Some believe Hell does not exist and question how a loving God could send someone there. Others assert that Hell is simply life here on earth. Some use the word “Hell” casually and flippantly, showing they don’t even understand what it really is.

  • A Promise Keeper

There was a time when we heard the saying, “A man’s word is as good as his bond.”  Or maybe someone used as his motto: “I always do what I say I will do.” Many today make promises, but don’t keep them; and some give their word, but never make it good.

But there is one on whom you can always depend. In your Bible, you will find that Jesus made many promises some of which have already been fulfilled, some He is doing now and others apply to the future.

  • The greatest change

God is a great God and His love is a great love.  But so many today believe in a little God and a great humanity.  Man tries to take the place of God.  While man is glorified, God is being pushed into the background.

But God is still sovereign.  He made all things: they are His now, and one day He will reign over all things.  David felt small when he considered the handwork of God, and said, “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers. What is man that you take thought of him” (Psalm 8:3-4).

  • So great a salvation

    By Paul Richey

In John 3, the Bible speaks of a religious leader named Nicodemus coming to Jesus by the cover of night to investigate salvation. Through this dialogue, Jesus declares that one must be born again to receive life everlasting. Nicodemus was confused by this statement and asked for clarification and eventually walked away in the moment to ponder what Jesus had taught.

The Olympics.  I love this season of International athletic competition.  Have you been watching the Olympics?  Have you ever imagined yourself competing in them?  Winning a medal?  Winning gold?

  • Troubles will come

Everyone has troubles.  The old expression says, “It rains on the just and the unjust.”  So the question is, “How do we handle troubles when they come to us?”  One young man is jilted by his girl friend and he tries to commit suicide; while another man faces the same problem, but writes a song about it and makes a million dollars.  Trouble came to both, but the difference was how they chose to handle the problem.
