  • COLUMN: The things we know of God

    "And we know."

Paul, the Apostle, uses those words in Romans 8:28 when he says you and I can know "that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

  • TOUCHPOINTS: Without forgiveness, there is only judgment

Have you ever had someone say to you, “Well, it’s your fault?”

Why is it we don't want to take responsibility for our own actions? Isn’t it much easier to blame someone else? The Bible is very clear on this matter.

Each one of us is responsible for our own decisions, behaviors and relationships.

Adam was warned by God not to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or he would die. Adam did eat, but blamed someone else.

  • COLUMN: Make the most of your time

Even if we live to an advanced age, we are on earth for only a brief time. So, we want to make the best use of what time we are given and be found as good stewards when we arrive at the end of our journey.

God’s word gives some helpful suggestions for making the most of our time.  Colossians 3:23 NLT says, “Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you are working for the Lord rather than for people.”

  • COLUMN: Can you keep up your daily walk with God?

Physical walking is one of the best exercises for our heart and lungs, but spiritual walking is very beneficial to our soul. “Enoch walked with God” (Genesis 5:22).

Moses raised the question to the Israelites, “What does the Lord require of you?” The answer was “to fear the Lord, to walk in all His ways, to love Him and to serve Him and to keep His commands.” All this was to be done, “with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deuteronomy 10:12-13).

  • God, guns and good ol' boys

CALHOUN – Once the host of a top-rated outdoor TV show, Chuck McAlister has hunted everything from waterfowl to wild hogs.

But now, in a new role as head of evangelism for the Kentucky Baptist Convention, the self-avowed redneck has set his sights on a new target – wayward men, particularly those who share his affection for the outdoors.

  • COLUMN: God can answer the big question

The big question of life is – who am I and why am I here?
Let’s use a New Testament character in answering this question. Zacchaeus was a wealthy and successful businessman who held a powerful position in Roman-occupied Israel. Today we would call him an IRS agent.
His story is found in Luke 19:1-10.
