  • Independence Day

    By Jonathan Carl

Independence Day. A time we celebrate the independence of our nation from an oppressive empire. A cause to remember the many freedoms we enjoy and privileges we have as a constitutional republic, separated from the grasp of tyranny.

  • Every Christian's Desire

States have often been called laboratories of democracy, and for good reason: That’s where most cutting-edge ideas to improve government are first tested. The good ones are widely copied while the unworkable ones teach a valuable lesson as well.

  • God Bless America

Last month Franklin Graham stood on the steps of our state capital and led a large number of Kentuckians in prayer for our nation. Mr. Graham said his hope was not in the Democratic or Republican parties, but only in God. Truly, God is our only hope as a nation.  The psalmist says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12).  We need a great turning and returning to God and the principles of our founding fathers.

  • Spiritual Warfare

    By Jonathan Carl

    Guest Columnist

Satan is real. Demons are real. There is a real battle, a conflict that is largely unseen. Satan and his demons are at war with the followers of Christ and are constantly seeking avenues to attack God’s children, sometimes directly, but oftentimes through the world and our fleshly desires. We cannot ignore the reality of the unseen world and unseen beings.

“The real war is inward of which the outer action is but the echo and reverberation.” Harry Emerson Fosdick

  • A Sure Foundation

The foundation for a building is so very important when the winds and the storms come (Matthew 7:24-28).  Recently, on a downtown trip in Louisville, I observed the way a construction company was digging very deeply to lay the proper foundation for a building that would reach high above the earth.  Taking time for a proper foundation is time well spent.
