One day in the jungle a lion with a big ego went around asking the other animals who the king of the jungle was. The lion roared at the monkey, “Who is the king of the jungle?”

The monkey with fear in his voice said, “Why you are, Mr. Lion.”

The lion went and found the zebra. “Who is the king of the jungle?” 

“There is no doubt about it. You are, Mr. Lion.”

During a board meeting in a small mountain church, one of the deacons said, “Preacher, I think we need a chandelier in the church.” Another deacon spoke up, “No, I’m against it. Nobody in the church can spell it. Nobody can play it. What we need in this church is more light.”

The Marrowbone Christian Brotherhood came to the aid of Hodgenville during the recent ice storm that ravaged most of the state. Emanuel Hostetler, a member of the group from Marrowbone, said they are a rapid response team during times of disaster. Hostetler said the group of about 20 men cleared trees from roadways and yards and removed logs jammed under two bridges in the Whitlock Hollow area.

It is said that Socrates taught for 40 years, Plato for 50, Aristotle for 40 and Jesus for only three. Yet the influence of Christ’s ministry transcends the impact left by the combined 130 years of teaching from these men who were among the greatest ancient philosophers. Jesus painted no pictures; yet some of the finest paintings of Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci received their inspiration from him.

Jesus wrote no poetry; but Dante and Milton, and scores of the world’s greatest poets were inspired by him.
