The Parish Health and Wellness Ministry workshop will be 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 29 at St. Catharine College Hamilton Health Sciences Building near Springfield. Sister Bea Keller, SCN, Norton Healthcare, will be the primary presenter. Sister Mary Schmuck, RSM will provide a session on public policy and health ministry.

Four continuing education units are available for nurses on request with registration. The $5 fee includes lunch. Registration is required by Aug. 21. All faith communities are welcome.   

We could draw from the poet Robert Browning’s statement, “Grow old along with me; the best is yet to be,” a parallel for the Christian walk in life.

You trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior; He washed away your sins; you became a child of God. With each experience, your fellowship with him grows sweeter, and the best is reserved for the believer when life here on earth is completed.

A young paralyzed boy had surgery and after some weeks of therapy was able to walk. As he was being dismissed from the hospital, he said to his surgeon, “Doctor, as long as there is a tongue in my body, ain’t nobody going to hear the last of what you did for me.”

Can you identify with that young boy? When you think of what Jesus Christ has done for you, can you stop sharing the good news with others? Every time you think of what he has done, don’t you want to tell others? 

If anything is to last it must have a good foundation, be it a building, organization, marriage or whatever. I submit to you that America was founded upon such a firm foundation influenced by Christianity and it will continue so long as it does not seek other building stones.

There is evidence today that some of our foundation stones of the past are crumbling because of inattention. Students of history see a parallel between the late and great Roman Empire and the America of today. Some would say that America is following in Rome’s footsteps.
