  • COLUMN: Always ask for God's counsel

The men of Israel made a big mistake when they “did not ask counsel of the Lord.” Because of this, they entered into a covenant that was not approved by God, and yet one they felt they had to honor, even when they discovered they had been deceived.

  • COLUMN: God is gracious to forgive all our sins

The judge asked, “How does the defendant plead?” Without hesitation the accused answers, “Guilty as charged.”
This is not true today in the movies, on television, nor in real life.  Most of the time the accused pleads innocent whether they are guilty or not.

  • God forms all children in the mother’s womb

Genesis 9:6: Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man. Killing another person is a sin, and the Bible makes that very clear.
Psalms 51:5: For I was born a sinner. From the moment my mother conceived me. Some justify abortion by claiming that the unborn child is only a fetus, a physical body in the early stages of development.

  • God’s amazing grace

We tell people that we can get ahead by our efforts, but here is the problem when it comes to salvation. We think we can be good enough, go to church enough, pray enough, give enough money to the church or read the Bible enough, then God will love us and save us.  But this is not the way God works.
Our salvation is based on grace, and grace is the heart of our faith.  It is at the center of our relationship with God. Grace is when God gives us what we don’t deserve.  Who can begin to understand God’s amazing grace?

  • He has risen so that you may have life

Christ is risen. Christians throughout the world joined together Easter Sunday and every Sunday to worship a risen Lord.  Because of His death, burial and resurrection, we can have life and have it to the full (John 10:10).
If Jesus had remained in the grave, there would have been no resurrection from the dead and Christians would have no hope. Our faith would be useless. But Christ was raised from the dead and we are able to sing, “He arose!  He arose!  Hallelujah Christ arose!”

  • These holy days are for you

The sign of the Christian faith is a rugged and bloody cross. Above all, the Christian faith is a religion of redemption. It has to do with the deliverance of our souls from sin.
