It is interesting to note in the gospels the blending of the humanity and divinity of Jesus. Jesus was in a boat with the disciples. Weary, he fell asleep. A storm caused the disciples to wake him asking, “Master, don’t you care that we perish?” Jesus rose and said, “Peace be still!” The waters obeyed his command. You can see his humanity in his tiredness and you see his divinity as the waves obey his command. The humanity and divinity of Jesus is apparent from the beginning of his ministry.

Men today believe in a little God and a big humanity. Man is taking the place of God. When you look at the inventions and progress of man, you feel that man is outgrowing God. Man is being glorified and God is being forgotten.

But God is a great sovereign God. When David surveyed the handiwork of God he was made to exclaim, “What is man that thou art mindful of him ….” (Psalm 8:3-4). Consider some ways in which we see the greatness of God in the Bible.

Five Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph were elected Dec. 29-31 to a six-year term as the Ursuline Leadership Council. They will begin serving on July 18.

Sister Sharon Sullivan, a native of Texas, was elected as congregational leader. She is academic dean and vice president of academic affairs at Brescia University, a job which she began on an interim basis in August 2007 and accepted on a permanent basis in January 2009.

Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief is on alert for the developing Southern Baptist relief effort aimed at helping Haitians affected by the deadly earthquake that hit the island on Jan. 12.

According to Kentucky Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Associate Coy Webb, the KBC will “more than likely send an assessment team within the next week, but everything right now depends upon transportation.”
