• COLUMN: Your works can be traced by your fingerprints

We recently had the privilege of keeping our 15 month old grandson, Ty, for a week while his parents were on a mission trip. What a joy to have days and days with this sweet little one.

After we returned home after delivering him back to his anxious parents, I was cleaning the house and noticed multiple fingerprints and smudges all over the place. Between Ty and his cousins, Layla and Bridgett, every section of my house had been explored and traces of their paths were left everywhere.

  • COLUMN: Be imitators of Christ

Paul tells the Corinthian Christians, "Be an imitator of me as I am an imitator of Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1). He was trying to give the people a visual example of how to live the Christian life but not putting himself on a pedestal saying that he was perfect and had arrived.

Paul realized that the greatest motivational principle in the world is a good example. In communication we are taught that 89 percent of what we learn is through the eyes.

  • COLUMN: God has a reorganizing program for our bankrupt nation

“America wants God’s blessings, but not God. Our nation has systematically pushed him out of the national consciousness by rejecting Biblical morality, ignoring his word and relying on the political and entertainment areas for moral guidance.”

These are the words of John MacArthur and they express the beliefs of many Christian leaders today.

  • PHOTO: Wesley Meadows holds flag-raising

The Wesley Meadows congregation celebrated the Fourth of July a few days early. On July 1, the group raised the American flag in honor of veterans who have served in the past or currently. Three retired veterans raised the flag for the first time – Jessie Roundtree, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II; Jack Jones, who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and Herman Allen, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Allen called the flag, “the greatest sight he ever saw.”

  • Column: Prayer can reclaim America

America is a great place to live. It is not perfect, far from it – but it is better than any other nation I know.

But America has drifted from the principles and standards of our forefathers.  This drifting is not for the better. We are not what we were in the past.

  • COLUMN: Do you know the true cost of freedom?

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

The 4th of July, Independence Day for the United States of America, is historically a day of celebration. We commemorate our nation's independence from England with fireworks, picnics, and parades. It's a happy time! We love our freedom!
