Sometimes life here on earth can be complicated, demanding and busy.

With all the rain this past weekend our basement was flooded, and I’m certain others had to deal with the same situation. 

More than likely all suffered some sort of loss, but you know I believe there was a lesson for us to learn. The business of life keeps us running from place to place with scarcely a moment to spare.

Therefore, we may fail to pause and say a word of thanks for all the good things we have received.

Revelation 6:5-6; Third Seal scarcity on earth

The rider on the black horse is a symbol of economic disruption and the resultant famine. The real problem is not famine but inflation and scarcity. A denarius was the daily wage for a laborer, which ordinarily would buy eight times the amount of wheat and barley under these conditions. In our time, it is not hard to conceive of a global economic debt blowout.

Everybody has trouble but nobody seems to want it. The trouble is not the trouble itself, but how we handle it. One young man loses his girlfriend and tries to commit suicide. Another young man loses his girlfriend, writes a song about it, and makes a million dollars. The difference is in the way you treat the problems that come to you.

Revival at Buffalo Baptist
