  • COLUMN: We All Make Them

    Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

We all face them every day. Some are small. Others are big. But they must be made.

    At times we struggle.

Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us help in making wise decisions. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

There are some things we can be certain of – God wants us to make wise decisions, to follow his guidance and for us to have clear directions.

  • COLUMN: Hold on to the good

What are your priorities in life? They really don't change that much. If you had them yesterday, you probably haven't changed them today. We tend to get in a rut and stay there.

Health and fitness, career, personal finances, family and relationships, home improvement - some of these would be priorities for many today. But for many their priorities have nothing to do with the Lord. Some think only of this life and the afterlife does not interest them.

  • COLUMN: It didn't end on Good Friday

In the 1982 NBA championship series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers, the Lakers won the first three games. One more game and the Lakers would be the champions. But the 76ers refused to give up. A sports writer interviewed Julius Erwin (Dr. J) and asked if the 76ers were going to concede the series. Dr. J showed optimism when he said, “It is not over until it’s over.”

  • COLUMN: Three crosses on a hill

Have you ever wondered why there were three crosses on Calvary? Why was Jesus placed on the center cross?

The crosses on each side of Jesus represent the choice you and I must make. The choice we make determines how we live our life on earth and where we spend eternity.

  • GRACE NOTES: Death loses, God wins

On Oct. 26, a woman named Terri married the man of her dreams, and on Nov. 12, her new husband, Mike, went in for surgery for a lump on his jaw and had 9/10 of his tongue removed.

Mike is dying from oral cancer, slowly and painfully.

I’ve been following their saga on Facebook. It is both incredibly sad and filled with sweetness and an ultimate happily-ever-after ending.

Here are some of Terri’s most recent Facebook posts:
