Hodgenville United Methodist Church held vacation bible school recently.  Jim B. Phelps holds balloons before a launch. Chase Hines, Kodee Brinegar and  Alyssa White are among the children.

 We recently had the privilege of keeping our 15 month old grandson, Ty, for a week while his parents were on a mission trip. What a joy to have days and days with this sweet little one.

After we returned home after delivering him back to his anxious parents, I was cleaning the house and noticed multiple fingerprints and smudges all over the place. Between Ty and his cousins, Layla and Bridgett, every section of my house had been explored and traces of their paths were left everywhere.  

 LaRue Baptist Church has VBS

LaRue Baptist Church will have vacation bible school 6-8:30 p.m. through July 13. Friday is Family Fun Night, 6-7:30. Meals provided nightly. Call the church at 358-4673 for more information.

Mount Tabor VBS

Mount Tabor Baptist Church will have vacation bible school 6:30-9:30 p.m. through July 13. There will be classes for preschool through sixth grades. Children under 4 must be accompanied by an adult. The theme is SonRise National Park. For more information, call 325-3540.

The Wesley Meadows congregation celebrated the Fourth of July a few days early. On July 1, the group raised the American flag in honor of veterans who have served in the past or currently. Three retired veterans raised the flag for the first time – Jessie Roundtree, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II; Jack Jones, who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and Herman Allen, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Allen called the flag, “the greatest sight he ever saw.”
