  • Commitment, surrender, obedience

The answer to a richer, fuller life is in Jesus. This kind of life comes about as a result of a continual relationship with him through commitment, surrender and obedience.

Paul mentions three simple acts in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 that will promote a fuller life. First, Paul says, “Be joyful always.” This joy must be found in the Lord.

Some seek their joy in toys, trinkets and treasures of this life, but these are temporary and do not last. True joy comes from our relationship with the Lord.

  • Craftsman guides New Haven church project

The stately beauty of the great oaken doors was there all along, but it was buried beneath layers of  paint and needed the caring hands of a master craftsman to bring it out again.

Harold Bowling, who will be 77 in August, was baptized at St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven as a child and had been a parishioner there most of his life.

  • The Apostle Paul suggests the best way to live

“The Lord is near.” Paul makes this statement in Philippians 4:5 as he speaks of the second coming of Christ.

In light of Christ’s soon return what should we do? The apostle makes suggestions.

First he says, “Let your gentleness be evident to all.” The way of Christ is gentleness and kindness. Some want to throw their weight around and are not nice, kind and gentle. Paul said in light of the soon return of Christ, we need to be kind and gentle to all people.

  • Use your gift or lose it

There is an old axiom which says, “Use it or lose it.” This principle can be applied to almost everything in life.

  • Stay strong, America

America’s strength – where is it to be found?

The answer is given in scripture. “Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34) Righteousness is a moral uprightness and social justice. “Reproach” means “to bend low” in shame, in disgrace or in ultimate downfall.
