  • Fall Programming for Children at the LaRue County Public Library

     

    It’s August and all of our youngsters have begun the trek back to school. At the LaRue County Public Library, we’re ready to come alongside and support your children in education, as well as fitness. In this article you will find an outline of what is available to you in the coming months for the young people of LaRue County.

    1.Mommy & Me is on the last Monday of each month at 11 a.m. This is an activity-oriented program where mothers will have a separate activity from the children. The theme will vary each month. Sign up each month.

  • Cooking corner - August 30, 2017

    One Pot Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls

    1 pound of ground beef

    1/2 chopped onion

    4 cups of chopped cabbage, small head

    2 cans(14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes

    8 oz tomato paste

    1/2 cup beef broth

    1 tbsp brown sugar

    2 tsp salt

    1 tsp pepper

    In large deep skillet or Dutch oven, brown beef and onions, cook 5-7 minutes, drain grease. Add other ingredients and bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat, simmer until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes.

    Thought for the week: Just because I laugh a lot, doesn’t mean my life is easy. Just because I have a smile on my face everyday, doesn’t mean that something isn’t bothering me. I just choose to move on, and not dwell on all the negatives in my life. Every new moment gives me the chance to renew anew. I choose to be that!

    August 21st was just another day to me as the 2017 Eclipse has come and gone. All the hoopla is over with. When the next one rolls around, it will just be another day also.

  • Drug overdose awareness event scheduled

    The Hodgenville Police Department will have their third annual Overdose Awareness Program at Hodgenville City Hall at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 31.

    HPD Sergeant James Richardson said that speakers from their police department will discuss current drug trends as well as things to look for if you suspect a family member or friend is abusing drugs. He said they will also have speakers from Communicare and Step Works to discuss what services they have to offer those in need in LaRue County.

    This past Sunday was the 69th Usher Day at First Baptist Elizabethtown. The guest morning speaker was Reverend Harold Craig, Jr., Pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Radcliff. First Baptist Hodgenville and Morning Star Ushers were in attendance. This Thursday at 6 p.m. will be choir rehearsal at First Baptist.
