With LaRue County’s Relay for Life less than two weeks away, some young faces are determined to make their mark with a newly established team from LCHS- Beta Believers. Team captain Ally Rae Milford organized the team approximately six weeks ago from the high school’s Beta Club to get the group more involved in the community and to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
There will be a senior dance from 7 to 10 p.m. at the LaRue County Senior Center in Hodgenville this Friday, May 27. Admission is $4 Each. Music will be provided by the Prime Time Band. The New Haven School PTO will be hosting a Yard Sale Fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 4 at Jay Rust Body Shop 117 W. Main Street in New Haven.

The LaRue County Public Library will have an Adult Art Class Thursday, May 26 at 5 p.m. There is a sample at the Library of a country scene that will be painted. Space is limited. Please call 270-358-3851 to register.
For the second year, a passel of plastic purple pigs and their sponsors raised $2,144.06 toward the LaRue County Relay for Life goal of $50,000. Each pig, adopted by a family had its own story, but the fundraising contest by the Living Strong team generated many Facebooks posts, adventures, and followings for the four contest areas- Big Bucks, Hefty Hog, Most Traveled, and Best Dressed Pig.
The LaRue County Library will be kicking off the summer with their annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Lincoln Farm at 11 a.m. on May 31. Library staff will be conducting summer reading sign ups and the event will also include a magical performance by Dinky Gowen. Those interested are asked to bring a sack lunch and favorite stuffed friend. If you want to participate in summer reading, but are unable to attend the picnic, stop by the library during regular hours until June 7 to sign up.
