    Ella Grace Bales is proud to announce the arrival of her brother, Tate Elijah Bales.

    Tate Elijah was born at 4:35 p.m. on April 28, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Tate’s parents are Nathan and Amanda Bales of Hodgenville. Maternal grandparents are Beverly and the late Roy Veirs of Hodgenville. Paternal grandparents are Richard and Rita Bales of Hodgenville.

    Teresa Gomez and J.W. Head were the winners of $5 gift certificates from Lincolns Loft and library book bags from the LaRue County Public Library’s adult summer reading program. A grand prize will be given away Aug. 1.

  • Legal Aid Society offers free clinics

     The Legal Aid Society, 416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, will hold free legal clinics in July, August and September. Each session will be held at that location unless otherwise stated.

    A reservation for each clinic is required. Contact the Legal Aid Society at 502-584-1254 to make your reservation.

    United Way’s Day of Action was June 21. This activity encourages community volunteers to give something even more valuable than their money to help others – their time. One of the projects was to spruce up the playground at Kids Crew Plus at the LaRue County Board of Education.     Linda Funk, the executive director of Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen, was presented the Harry Lee Waterfield Humanitarian Award June 12 at the 31st annual Kentucky Public Retirees Conference in Louisville. This award is given annually to the Kentucky Public Retiree member who has been selected because of outstanding work in the community.
