    Gibson-Milby

    The Gibson-Milby family reunion will be Oct. 11 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Mount Sherman. Potluck begins at noon; doors open at 11 a.m. in the family center behind the church. For more information, call 324-3186.

    Haycraft

    The Haycraft family reunion is Oct. 18 at the Brown-Pusey House, Elizabethtown. Registration and tour of the Hardin County History Museum is at noon. Kids Corner (fun and games). Bring a dish. Potluck at 4 p.m. Auction at 7 p.m. Bring family photos, memorabilia and souvenirs.

    Georgetown

    Glenn Wilkinson, father of Rev. Jerry Wilkinson, was admitted to Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville last week. He’s doing fairly well.

    His mother-in-law, Corine Johnson, hasn’t been feeling well. Lolita Lee has been in the hospital recently. Let’s keep her and all of the sick in our prayers.

    Rev. Steven and Sunni Brazley Harris became the parents of a baby boy born Oct. 1. Mother and son are doing well. He’s the great-grandson of Rosleen Price of Hodgenville.

  • Column: Help for families with diabetes

      According to Kentucky’s Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, 1 in 10 adult Kentuckians have been diagnosed with diabetes. In 1995, this number was only 1 in 25. In addition, over 16 percent of all hospital stays in Kentucky are related to diabetes.

    55 years for the Greers

    Kenny and Marilyn Greer will celebrate their 55th anniversary on Oct. 3, 2014.

    A trip is planned at a later date.

    Their children are Neicha (Wendell) Pottinger and Leicha (David) Howell. They have four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

    60 years for the Cundiffs

    Joe and Mattie Stearman Cundiff of Taylorsville, celebrated their 60th wedding on Oct. 1, 2014.

    They were married at Friendship Baptist Church #2 in LaRue County on Oct. 1, 1954, by Rev. L.B. Cantrell.

    John R. Smith

    Joyce Mae Williams Thurman passed away Friday. Her funeral was Monday at Lane Lincoln CME Church.

    Rennie Powell is in the hospital at Louisville; Patricia Mountain was admitted to Norton’s Hospital last Tuesday and returned home on Wednesday. Shameka Lynch, the daughter of Victor Cox, had surgery last Thursday. Alice Lee Thomas will have surgery at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    Class of 1974

    The LaRue County High School Class of 1974 will hold its 40th reunion Saturday, Oct. 4, at Sportsman Lake, Campbellsville Road, Hodgenville. Dinner at the clubhouse is paid in advance for classmates and spouses, 4-8 p.m. An outdoor pavilion is open to all who wish to come (but not to the dinner itself) from 7 p.m. to midnight at no charge. Many classmates will be attending The Herd concert that evening (separate charge applies).
