After seeing the design for the stained glass windows to be installed at the New Haven Library branch once construction is complete, the Nelson County Libraries Board of Trustees Thursday approved the official hire of Laura Mentor to design and build windows for both new library branches.
Mentor designed the stained-glass piece in the main library branch.
“People do admire that piece and people come from other places to see it as well,” Libraries Director Sharon Shanks said.
The other day someone said to me, “It’s just one event after another for you, isn’t it?” And I replied “Yes, the Chamber always has something going on.” The Chamber of Commerce is always planning and doing projects and events for our local businesses and for the betterment of the community.
One project we have been working on for some time and are very excited about is a virtual kiosk featuring LaRue County. The virtual kiosk will hang in the storefront window of the Chamber office.
Recent findings indicate that even infants and toddlers are now at risk for becoming obese. Current national figures for infants and toddlers show that one in 10 is overweight and more than 20 percent of children between the ages 2 and 5 are already overweight or obese.
Early obesity can lead to adult overweight or obesity and the chronic diseases that stem from weight management issues. Reversing this alarming trend is critical for parents or caregivers to ensure health for children as they grow up. Recommendations include the following:
Fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches and tiredness. You guessed it, flu season is coming. Make plans now to protect yourself and your family from getting sick.
