  • ENGAGEMENT: Jochim-Tucker

    Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Jochim and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Tucker are proud to announce the marriage of their children, Amber Jochim and Drew Tucker.

    They will be married on Nov. 1, 2014, at St. Peters United Church of Christ in Lamar, Indiana.

    There will be a reception in their honor 6-8 p.m. Nov. 15, 2014, at First Baptist Church Fellowship Center, 730 Tonieville Road, Hodgenville.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    Alice Lee Thomas is in Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. She’s doing very well. R.B. Smith was admitted to Hardin Memorial Hospital. He’s improving. Rennie Powell is in Jewish Hospital, Louisville. She and her family desire your prayers.

  • Trick-or-Treat on the Square is Friday

    The annual Trick-or-Treat on the Square, sponsored by the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce, The LaRue County Herald News and the City of Hodgenville, will begin with a costume contest for the kids on Friday. Registration is at 4:30 p.m. and the contest will begin promptly at 5 p.m. There is a fee to enter.

    The contest has been moved to the lower parking lot beside Hodgenville City Hall off Lincoln Square.

    Trick-or-Treat in the city, county and on the square is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday. Officials urge motorists to use extra caution during the event.

     Alzheimer’s disease: Legal and financial planning

    A workshop for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia will be 1-3 p.m. Oct. 23 at the LaRue County Extension office, 807 Old Elizabethtown Road.   • Stories Fer Rednecks – Leaving a legacy

    Dan and Nick Thompson have seen crazy things happen. They’ve heard about crazy things that have happened. And they’ve written a book about it.

    The brothers have actually written two books: “Thompson Family History” and “Stories Fer Rednecks.” Both have crazy stories, but just one tells some of the family history.

    “People have been telling us how much they like them,” Nick said.

    Alice Lee Thomas was admitted to Hardin Memorial Hospital last weekend.

    Sunrise Manor Nursing Home will hold revival 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday with evangelist Billy Curle. Music will be provided by various groups. The Hodgenville Brotherhood will sing Wednesday evening.

  • Legal Aid Clinics planned

    The Legal Aid Society, 416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, will hold free legal clinics in October, November and December. Each session will be held at that location unless otherwise stated.

    A reservation for each clinic is required. Contact the Legal Aid Society at 502-584-1254 to make your reservation.

    Divorce Clinic– 9:30 a.m. Oct. 30; 9:30 a.m. Nov. 20; 9:30 a.m. Dec. 11. Clients will receive assistance from attorneys in filling out all of the necessary paperwork to file for a divorce.

    Roadblock for Santa Claus

    The Santa’s Helpers will hold a roadblock 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 at Lincoln Plaza and Save-A-Lot shopping center intersections. Funds will be used to purchase toys for local children at Christmas.
