    Pumpkin Cream Pie

    2 cups cold milk

    2 (4 serving) boxes instant vanilla pudding and pie filling

    1 cup canned pumpkin

    1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

    1 cup whipped topping

    1(9 inch) pie shell, baked

    Combine all ingredients, beat at low speed with electric mixer 1 minute. Pour mixture into pie shell. Chill until set. Garnish with whipped topping.

  • Child abuse prevention trainings in Elizabethtown

    Attorney General Andy Beshear, the Kentucky Association of Children’s Advocacy Centers and Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky today announced upcoming child sexual abuse prevention trainings in Elizabethtown for organizations that serve children.

    The November 30 trainings at the Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown are aimed at daycares, summer camps, churches and other youth-serving organizations with program evaluation and implementation of an action plan that will strengthen protocols and policies to safeguard children from sexual abuse.

  • Hanging with Heroes: local program brings Christmas to families in need

    Sergeant James Richardson is looking forward to Christmas shopping—not just for kids but also with them. Each year, Richardson, along with a group of officers from the sheriff’s department and fire department push carts through Walmart and watch as children from LaRue County pick out clothes and toys for Christmas. From babies to teenagers, every participant loves getting Christmas gifts, but what do kids think of shopping with a police officer?

    The Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a community-wide picnic with food, fun and fellowship on Sunday September 24 at the church in Magnolia. The event will start at 4 p.m. and end with a devotional at 7 p.m.

    Lorriane Embree is improving and will hopefully be released from the hospital on Monday in Detroit, Michigan. Joyce Embree Hosea is doing well. Chris Goodin. Sr. returned to his residence this past Sunday morning from Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.

    Jackie Handley had outpatient surgery last week. Jimmy Handley was admitted to Veterans Hospital in Louisville last weekend.

    Thought for the week: Life is boring if you don’t laugh, Joke around and be a little crazy every now and then. At the end of the day, it’s about being happy.

    The LaRue County Hawks Football team is off to great start this season with a 5-0 record. Keep up good work. The weather has been nice couple past days. I so wanted to work in flower bed, but didn’t want to stir up my allergies again. It will have to wait a few more days and I am hoping weeds will stop growing.
