The annual Trick-or-Treat on the Square, sponsored by the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce, The LaRue County Herald News and the City of Hodgenville, will begin with a costume contest for the kids on Friday. Registration is at 4:30 p.m. and the contest will begin promptly at 5 p.m. There is a fee to enter.
The contest has been moved to the lower parking lot beside Hodgenville City Hall off Lincoln Square.
Trick-or-Treat in the city, county and on the square is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday. Officials urge motorists to use extra caution during the event.
A workshop for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia will be 1-3 p.m. Oct. 23 at the LaRue County Extension office, 807 Old Elizabethtown Road. Sunrise Manor Nursing Home will hold revival 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday with evangelist Billy Curle. Music will be provided by various groups. The Hodgenville Brotherhood will sing Wednesday evening.
Fall Recycling Day will be 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 18 at the LaRue County Maintenance Garage across from LaRue County High School. Any metal items, computer parts, cell phones, electronics, motor vehicles or equipment batteries will be accepted. There is a charge for tire disposal. More than 375 booths will welcome thousands of visitors Saturday at the annual Glendale Crossing Festival, according to Sheree Vance, festival chairwoman.
The day will begin with the parade at 10 a.m. Those interested in participating in the parade are asked to be at the field at East Hardin Middle School before 9:30 a.m. Horses, four wheelers and throwing candy are not permitted.
This year’s grand marshal is the family of Jonathan French, who died in the line of duty as a member of the Glendale Volunteer Fire Department in August.
Glenn Wilkinson passed away Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Hospital, Danville. He’s the father of Rev. Jerry Wilkinson.
