CKCAC Area Board of Directors
The Central Kentucky Community Action Council Area Board of Directors will hold a special called meeting 1:30 p.m. May 9 at the Nelson County Old Courthouse in the courtroom, 1 Court Square, Bardstown. The public can attend.

Humphreys enjoying post as chief of interpretation at Park

Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park has a new chief of interpretation and resource management. Stacy Humphreys, former supervisory park ranger at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (St. Louis Arch, in St. Louis, Mo.), has worked more than 11 years for the National Park Service. She took over the position in September.

Volunteers spruce up Lincoln Birthplace

A group of dedicated volunteers helped clean and spruce up the grounds of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park on April 27.

About 20 people braved the gray skies and threatening rain to clean out the boxwood beds by the Memorial Building steps, and remove sticks, leaves and old mulch from around trees. They finished all of the work just as rain began to fall.

Donation to Hope Food Pantry

In recognition of his 20 year business anniversary, owner/operator Wayne Tyree of Hardee’s/Red Burrito, right, presented a $1,000 check to the Hope Food Pantry. Accepting the donation is Hodgenville United Methodist Church Pastor Bob Howell and Hope Food Pantry Coordinator Susan Phelps. The food pantry serves more than 90 families and 300 individuals monthly in LaRue County
