Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Fine Arts Committee will present the spring concert of the ECTC Concert Band and the ECTC Choristers 7 p.m. April 24 in the Morrison Gallery in the Owen (Administration) Building of the college. The concert is free and the public is invited.
Are you at risk for diabetes? Everyone should be aware of the risk factors for type 2 diabetes. People who are overweight, under active (living a sedentary lifestyle) and over the age of 45 should consider themselves at risk for the disease. African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and people who have a family history of the disease also are at an increased risk for type 2 diabetes.
As a part of our community’s preparation for LaRue County’s Relay for Life event on May 11-12 at Hodgenville Elementary School, the local Relay for Life Committee is recognizing individual cancer survivors and some of the volunteers. This week, some of the children who volunteer for Relay are featured.
With the LaRue County Relay for Life less than one month away, the 12 local teams are busily fundraising to meet the county goal of $50,000. However, often overshadowed are the many youth who are involved in the community effort.

Obtaining, treating, and distributing water is an energy-intensive process. On average, Kentuckians use 100 to 150 gallons of water per person per day. By decreasing the amount of water we use, we can also save energy, and reduce utility costs. The following tips are simple, inexpensive ways to save water in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room.

One of the fondest memories of my childhood is that of my entire family sitting down almost every evening for a nice meal together. It was a great opportunity for us to talk about the day's events and stay connected with each other. For most families these days it is hard to make time for family meals for many reasons. But the benefits of sharing a meal together are tremendous for both parents and kids.
