  • WEDDING: Tammy Beams and Aaron Gibson

     Tammy Beams and Aaron Gibson of Upton were married July 14, 2012, in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., at My Smoky Wedding Chapel.

    The bride is the daughter of William and Shelia Beams of Hodgenville and Jimmie and Della Wood of Hodgenville. She is the granddaughter of Genrose Ward and the late Eura Ward of Magnolia and the late Victor and Ova Beams of Hudgens.

    The groom is the son of Lewis Gibson of Clarkson and Jimmy and Joyce Waddle of Munfordville. He is the grandson of Maxwell and Doris Gibson of Clarkson and Joy Priddy and the late Lonnie Priddy of Bonnieville.

  • COLUMN: October is National Dental Hygiene Month

     Many adults care for their teeth using habits that were formed early in childhood. It is important to be sure that those habits are good ones. As we age, our teeth and mouths can develop very different needs.

    Gum disease, dry mouth, oral cancer and tooth decay (cavities) can become issues which can also have negative effects on our overall health. According to the Journal of the American Dental Association “the mouth is a window into the health of the body.” Our mouths can also reveal the first signs of disease within our bodies.

  • BIRTH: Braxton Thomas Brooks

     Nick and Deidre Brooks announce the birth of a son, Braxton Thomas Brooks.

    Braxton Thomas was born July 25, 2012. He weighed 6 pounds and 7.8 ounces.

    He is welcomed home by big brother, Braden.

  • Events planned for Relay for Life

     Though Relay for Life, slated for May 17, 2013, is months away, people from LaRue County are already gearing up by forming teams, hosting fundraisers and promoting the event.

    To date, about 16 teams are on board with several participating in the county-wide roadblocks on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Lincoln Boulevard /Shawnee Drive and the 31E/Hwy. 61 intersections. (See the Relay for Life Fundraiser listing for more information on teams and times.)
