The Culvertown community will have homecoming at the Culvertown Ball Park 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 15. Pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs or hamburgers with sides will be served for $5 per plate. Harold Hutchins and other local musicians will perform. A horseshoe tournament will be 1 p.m. with sign-ups at noon. For information, contact Troy Benningfield at 502-827-4030.
This Friday, local seniors will be honored with a celebration at Creek Front Park in Hodgenville.
“The celebration of the seniors themselves is what this is about most importantly,” said Senior Center Director Karen Elliott. “They have helped make this community what it is. They’ve been down the rough road and I think that they can tell us a lot if we’d just listen to them more.”
A benefit is being planned for a local couple facing large medical bills.
Neal McDowell, who lives near the LaRue-Hardin line with his wife Susan and their children, is battling a serious illness. His former co-workers from Gates are holding a benefit auction and meal to assist with expenses.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at Hodgenville Sportsman’s Lake.
The clubhouse has been reserved until 5 p.m.
Lunch will be available.
A live auction will be held and the group is seeking donations.
