    Stovall United Methodist Church, 949 Rogersville Road, Radcliff, will have an ice cream supper 5:30-8 p.m. Aug. 2.   • Former pastor dies after being struck by rock

    He was a man of God, statistics and hunting.

    Friends and family gathered on Friday and Saturday to say goodbye to Paul Dameron, who had worked at Campbellsville University for 30 years.

    Last Wednesday, Dameron died while driving home from his job.

    According to Campbellsville Police, Dameron was traveling south on KY 55 at 3:40 p.m. Witnesses told police they saw Dameron’s vehicle begin to slow, drift into the other lane of traffic and up an embankment, where it came to rest.

  • 4-H Day, agriculture exhibits, back seat drivers and yard sale combine for ‘split fair’

    The second half of the LaRue County Fair will be Saturday, Aug. 3.

    The “split fair” format allows 4-Hers to exhibit crops prior to the Kentucky State Fair, according to Ann “Snookie” Morrison of the LaRue County Fair Board.

    4-H exhibits will be shown 10 a.m.-noon. The poultry show is at 11 a.m.

    Community crop exhibits are welcome, said Morrison.

    Vegetables and canned goods can be entered between 10 a.m. and noon. They will be shown 1-4 p.m. at the Bobby Morrison-Jim Phelps building (the air conditioned building).

  • Second 'Super Cat' found

    A local mystery has been solved.

    Bill Thomas, a firefighter in Louisville, came across a “Super Cat” comic in a thrift store. It was in a package with a visor and three basketball cards. He paid $1.99 each and thinks he made a deal.

    Thomas was searching the Internet for clues about the find when he hit on William Gowen’s photo showing off his own “Super Cat” comic on the The LaRue County Herald News website.

    Gowen brought the comic book to the newspaper office in hopes of finding out more about it.

    Kentucky Public Retirees, Lincoln Trail Chapter, will meet 11:30 a.m. Aug. 12 at Ryan’s Family Steak House, 1034 Executive Drive, Elizabethtown. Stephanie Heller from Humana Insurance Company will be the guest speaker.
