  • Officer Taulbee honored in Memorial Benefit Ride

    Hodgenville Police Chief Steve Johnson and several other officers from surrounding communities participated in Saturday’s Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Benefit Ride.

    The event, hosted by the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Chapter 11, drew between 200 and 300 motorcyclists.

    The riders honored their fellow officers who died in the line of duty: Officer Mark Taulbee, Hodgenville Police Department; Chief Herbert Proffitt, Tompkinsville Police Department; and Deputy Anthony Rakes, Marion County Sheriff Department.

  • Cardboard Nation fundraiser set for Sept. 20

    Linda Funk, executive director of Warm Blessings and Lowe’s employee Karen Fordham, are working together for the sixth annual Cardboard Nation event.
    Funk is arranging with Fordham for Lowe’s staff to save larger refrigerator and freezer boxes for the Warm Blessings upcoming sixth annual Cardboard Nation event.

    Prime Time Band to perform
    A dance will be held 7-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at the LaRue County Senior Citizens Center, 112 N. Walters Ave., Hodgenville.     Saint Catherine alumni reunion
    Saint Catherine Alumni Association of New Haven will hold a reunion 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 18 for all students who attended elementary or high school at Saint Catherine. An “old style Sunday dinner” will be served at 1 p.m. in the school gym. Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 per person at the door.  Advance reservations are recommended.     Spaghettioke fundraiser for bleachers
    Awesome Events and the LaRue County Fairgrounds will have a spaghetti dinner and karaoke 4-9 p.m. Aug. 15. Dinner will include spaghetti with meat sauce, salad and garlic bread for $5.99.     Tracy Stearman of Hodgenville and Shelly Ogden of Radcliff would like to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Ashley Lauren Stearman, to Shawn Michael Thomas of Brandenburg, son of Joan Thomas and stepson of Jeff Thomas.

    Ashley Lauren and Shawn Michael each graduated in 2009.

    The wedding will take place at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 24, 2013, at Brandenburg Riverfront Park Amphitheater in Brandenburg. A reception will follow.
