The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety honored 140 law enforcement officers from 123 agencies across the Common-wealth for their efforts to increase the use of seat belts and child restraints in motor vehicles.
The third annual Governor’s Occupant Protection Awards ceremony was held last week at the Marriott Downtown Louisville. Awards were presented to officers with the most occupant protection citations in each agency and division. There are six divisions, broken down by number of officers within the agency, plus a division for Kentucky State Police.
If you drink and drive in Hodgenville, beware. Hodgenville City Police is joining with the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and officers across the nation for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign Aug. 16 to Sept. 2.
Chief Steve Johnson said officers will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers during the crackdown through Labor Day weekend and will arrest anyone caught driving impaired.

“A Fairy Long Night,” written by Lenora Rodgers of Elizabethtown, is the tale of Zak and Zeke, not-so-smart assistants to The Tooth Fairy. Zak carries the money to be placed under the children’s pillows. Zeke carries the bag for the teeth.
