  • Tracy Lawrence to perform at E'town festival

    Responding to repeated requests from local residents, Elizabethtown has secured a veteran of country music to close out the Heartland Festival this August.

    Tracy Lawrence will take the stage at Freeman Lake Park during a free Saturday night concert at Freeman Lake Park on Aug. 24, according to city officials.

    Lawrence, known for hits such as “Alibis,” “Can’t Break it to My Heart,” “My Second Home” and “If the Good Die Young,” is no stranger to Elizabethtown or the park, said Mayor Tim Walker.

    The LaRue County Relay for Life County Committee received notice last week that Fort Knox Federal Credit Union will once again return as the Survivor sponsor for this year’s Relay for Life which will be held Friday, May 17 at Hodgenville Elementary School.

    The prospective groom is the son of Julie Delaney of Niagara, Wis.

     Here is the latest Kentucky health statistics for Adult Obesity, Physical Activity and Nutrition. This health information came from Partnership for a Fit Kentucky. 

    A look at the numbers:

    · Kentucky ranked 10th highest in the U.S. for adults who were obese.

    · Kentucky is one of 12 states with obesity rates greater than 30 percent.

    · 66.2 percent of adult Kentuckians are overweight or obese.

    · 72.6 percent of men and 60 percent of women in Kentucky are overweight or obese.
