    Naughty or nice? Only Santa knows for sure as he begins making his list and checking it twice in preparation for his Christmas Eve rounds.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Amanda Michelle Bingham and Michael Vincent Cissell

    Charles Junior and Charlotte Bingham of Hodgenville are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Michelle Bingham to Michael Vincent Cissell, son of Rhonda Cissell and the late Gary “Pete” Cissell.

    The bride to be is a 2001 graduate of LaRue County High School and 2002 graduate of The Hair Design School. She is a nail technician at Perfect Ten Salon.

    The prospective groom is a 2000 graduate of LaRue County High School. He is a city letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

  • Free legal aid clinic planned for veterans

    Legal Aid is hosting a free legal clinic for veterans 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the American Legion Hardin Post 113, 1251 Ring Road in Elizabethtown.

    Attorneys will be on hand to help veterans with civil legal problems that include divorce, child support, custody, bankruptcy, consumer issues, criminal record expungements, wills, powers of attorney, VA benefits, landlord/tenant issues, probate and guardianship, foreclosure and small claims.

  • Glen Rice concert set for Nov. 11

    Glen Rice, Family and Friends Musical Concert will be 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.

    Besides Rice, performers include Ron Benningfield, Eddie Black, Glenn Williams, Rick Durham, Mike Ash, Camille Turner, Freddy Helm and Tony Cooke.

    The concert will feature a tribute to The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statler Brothers, The Gatlin Brothers and Alabama.

  • WEDDING: Leah Siobhan Keys and Bryan Scott Embry

    Leah Siobhan Keys and Bryan Scott Embry were united in marriage Aug. 20, 2011, at Gospel of Grace Baptist Church.

    The bride is the daughter of Rev. Dewey R. Keys Sr. and Nancy Keys of Hodgenville. She is a 2003 graduate of LaRue County High School and Western Kentucky University where she received a degree in marketing and elementary education.

  • ANNIVERSARY: Florences celebrate 65 years

    Samuel Earl and Alta Florence of Hodgenville will celebrate their 65th anniversary Nov. 2, 2011.

    They were married in 1946 in LaRue County and are members of Union Christian Church.

    They have six children, Janice Florence Graham of Harrodsburg, Barbara Florence Finnicum of Elizabethtown, Patricia Florence Burroughs of Hodgenville, Michael Stephen Florence, deceased, George Bradley Florence of Hodgenville, and Samuel Earl Florence Jr. of Buffalo; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

  • Military History Museum to re-open Veteran's Day

    A renovated Kentucky Military History Museum at the State Arsenal will reopen to the public with a ceremony at 2 p.m. on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11. The museum at 125 East Main St. in downtown Frankfort is operated by the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs.
